finding my rainbow

There's always something about new years that gets me jittery. As the clock begins to tick for another set of 365 days, I get the urge to pack my stuff and follow wherever my jittery pair of shoes will lead. I only know I need to get somewhere but wherever that is appears often to be a mirage.

I had the same urge when this year began. I hope to see new things as I start another decade. With much anticipation, I look forward to this year but perhaps the urge will have a little nuance.

While last year went 'good', it was not my idea of 'best': I joined and left communities ironically because of my resolve to take my faith a little more seriously. Relationships at home went sour from sweet and while it is not yet the sweetest, we somehow learned to pinch in some grains of sugar everytime. And I remain footed on the same job albeit wiser, perhaps more mature than imprudent.

On a new year prognostication, a soothsayer hinted that practical me have always been lucky in terms of career. I've been a little skeptical. Practical, yes. Lucky, I still have to define that. I have already come to the realization that I had my share of blessings. She said I will be luckier in love. Er, thank heavens. But I hope she did not say that for the sake of saying something in this area. And then she finally said this will be a smooth year for the relationships within the family. If that is the case, I'm already the luckiest.

New years will always mean new quests. That will have to mean new humps and bumps, bends and crossroads. Perhaps I'll be needing a new pair of shoes to contain my jitters.

Someone just told me that it might not be a mirage after all – I just need to find my rainbow first before I can find my pot of gold. I wish myself one big good luck.
